Reese Witherspoon made her first high-profile public appearance with her new boyfriend, German financier Oliver Haarmann, on Tuesday at the Elle premiere in New York City. Witherspoon, 50, was accompanied by her son Deacon Phillippe at the event celebrating the prequel series of her 2001 film "Legally Blonde."
The couple, who reportedly began dating in 2024, appeared affectionate, holding hands and remaining close throughout the premiere. Witherspoon wore a lacy pink off-the-shoulder dress and nude open-toe heels. Her blonde hair was styled with a side part, falling down her back.
Witherspoon's relationship with Haarmann began following her divorce from her husband of 12 years, Jim Toth, in 2023. The actress filed for divorce in April 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, who share a 13-year-old son, Tennessee, had finalized their divorce in August 2023 after reaching a marital dissolution agreement and signing a parenting plan. Witherspoon and Toth had been married since 2011 and had a prenuptial agreement in place.
This marks Witherspoon's second divorce. Her first marriage was to actor Ryan Phillippe, whom she met before filming "Cruel Intentions." They were married for seven years, from 2001 to 2006, and share two children, daughter Ava and son Deacon. Their divorce was finalized in June 2008, with no prenuptial agreement in place. At the time of their separation, Witherspoon's career had significantly surpassed Phillippe's in terms of earnings, a disparity that had been publicly noted.
Haarmann, a graduate of Harvard Business School and founder of the private equity firm Searchlight Capital Partners, has also been divorced. He was previously married to businesswoman Mala Gaonkar, with whom he has two sons.
