Ravneet Gill, host of Channel 4's "Junior Bake Off," has given birth to her second child, a baby boy named Roman Taiano. Gill shared the news on social media Sunday, posting a picture from the hospital.
"Our darling boy entered the world a little earlier than I thought, after a surprise labour last Sunday," Gill wrote in her post. "And by Monday, there he was. Welcome to the world, Roman Taiano. Happy days."
The chef and TV personality, 35, revealed her pregnancy in May, posting a photo in her chef's whites announcing, "This wasn't on the prep list… but here we are. yes chef, I'm pregnant."
Gill married chef Mattie Taiano in 2022, and the couple welcomed their first child, son Donnie, in 2023. Gill also fronts "Junior Bake Off" alongside Liam Charles and took over from Prue Leith on the children's version of the show, which is presented by Harry Hill.
Gill is a trained pastry chef and author of "The Pastry Chef's Guide." She began working on "Bake Off" in 2019 and has also appeared on "5 Star Kitchen" and "Remarkable Places to Eat." She and her husband recently opened their first restaurant, Gina, in Chingford.
Reflecting on motherhood in a previous Instagram post, Gill described the demands of balancing her career and raising a baby. "I didn't really want kids and didn't have the slightest clue about babies," she admitted. "After a year of motherhood, I honestly feel like I’ve been doing an intensive masters degree in babies, it’s been the single biggest dramatic learning curve and adjustment of my life!"
She explained that she and her husband worked opposite shifts at their restaurant to be present with their baby, which left them feeling "thinly stretched." Gill added that she had no time for socializing, prioritizing bath time and bedtime with her child. "I'm the most tired version of myself, but weirdly the most invigorated, happiest and focused version of me," she stated.
