Radio 1 presenter Lauren Layfield, 38, has given birth to her first child, a baby boy named Kit. Layfield shared the news on Tuesday via an Instagram post, which included a family photo with her husband, Luke Beddows, and reflected on their journey through IVF.

In her announcement, Layfield described the birth of her son, Kit Beddows, as a moment of "absolute love at first sight." She humorously mused about whether the IVF clinic might have mixed up embryos, joking about ending up with the child of a "much more good-looking couple." Layfield expressed her deep affection for her son, stating, "I'm keeping him because I'm OBSESSED."

She indicated plans to share more thoughts on motherhood, the decision to have children, IVF, and the career-parenthood paradox when she feels more rested. Layfield extended gratitude to her husband, whom she called "the funniest person to do this with," and to "amazing, clever doctors" and her supportive work colleagues. She also thanked friends, family, and neighbors for their well wishes and practical help, including "Deliveroo vouchers."

Layfield first revealed her pregnancy in March, sharing a photo of her baby bump on Instagram. At the time, she referred to the pregnancy as an "off-brand" move for her and her husband, who have been together for nearly 20 years. She noted that "little IVF baby Beddows arrives to ruin our lives in June," adding that "SO MUCH going on" needed to be shared.

Her announcement was met with numerous congratulatory messages from fans and celebrity friends, including Melvin Odoom and Michelle Ackerley. Fans expressed excitement, with some attributing the "magic" to the studio where she works.

Lauren Layfield is known for presenting The Official Chart: First Look and Radio 1's Life Hacks for the BBC. In 2024, she took over the latter show with Shanequa Paris. The Life Hacks show, which airs weekly, focuses on discussions about issues affecting young people, including health, careers, and relationships. Layfield previously worked for Capital FM before joining the BBC.
