Ladies' Day at the Glorious Goodwood festival saw racegoers embrace bold colours, florals, and elaborate fascinators. The third day of the five-day event, held in Chichester, West Sussex, is considered a sartorial highlight, aiming to blend fashion and horseracing.
Attendees showcased a variety of styles, with pinks, lilacs, and reds featuring prominently. Many chose gowns adorned with tulle, lace, and vibrant patterns. Heart-shaped headwear and romantic pastels were also popular, alongside whimsical designs such as a large rose-shaped fascinator and a candy cane-striped dress. Others opted for retro-inspired paisley prints and decorative bows, feathers, and sunglasses.
The Glorious Goodwood dress code celebrates 'quintessentially British style,' allowing for a range of looks from high fashion to more relaxed ensembles. The festival's website has previously noted linen suits, Panama hats, and chic dresses as common attire.
While the event is known for its dress-up opportunities, different enclosures have specific guidelines. The Richmond Enclosure requires gentlemen to wear a jacket and tie, while women are expected to adhere to a garden party look, including a 'floaty or floral dress, an elegant top and trouser/skirt combination suitable for England in summer.' Attendees are advised against wearing stiletto heels due to the uneven ground. The Gordon and Lennox Enclosures have no formal dress code, though guests are encouraged to wear smart, elegant attire.
This year's event benefited from warm weather, with temperatures expected to reach 27C, a marked contrast to the previous year's heavy rainfall and gales. The Qatar Goodwood Festival features a notable racing lineup, including 13 Group contests and three Group 1 races, with the £1.5 million Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes as a flagship event. Beyond the racing, the festival offers dining options and curated food collections, along with traditional strawberries and cream.
The event also includes live music and anticipated races such as The Magnolia Cup, a charity event featuring participant Gemma Owen.
