Former 'Great British Bake Off' judge Prue Leith was taken to the hospital after her husband feared she was suffering a stroke. The incident occurred while Leith, 86, was on holiday in Yorkshire.

Her husband, John Playfair, called emergency services when Leith's speech became an "incomprehensible jumble of disconnected words." This speech difficulty followed what Leith described as a "migraine attack" that caused her to experience partial vision loss, seeing only "half of whatever I’m looking at." She noted that she had previously experienced similar visual disturbances.

Despite her ability to perform basic physical tests, such as raising an arm, as requested by her doctor and later by paramedics, the severity of her speech impairment prompted medical attention. Upon arrival at Harrogate Hospital, Leith regained her ability to speak and underwent a CT scan.

Doctors released Leith in the early hours of the morning after reviewing the scan results. Leith recounted the experience in her column, "Prue’s News," which is set to be featured in the September issue of The Oldie magazine.

Leith also shared a history of migraines, recalling an episode at age nine where a migraine affected her speech. She described the condition as causing her to blurt out unrelated phrases, such as "I want fish," instead of expressing that she was feeling unwell.
