The couple revealed the details of their initial messages during an appearance on the podcast "Hey Jonas," hosted by Nick Jonas and his brothers. The exchange, which occurred about a year and a half before they began dating, was described as "cringe-worthy" by the hosts.
Nick Jonas explained that Joe Jonas initially inspired him to reach out to Chopra, having been a fan of her show "Quantico." Upon seeing a billboard for the show in Los Angeles, Nick looked up Chopra on Twitter and discovered she followed him. His first message to Chopra, as read by Joe, stated: "Hello. I've heard from a few people that we should meet. I have to agree with these people.. Are you in LA anytime soon?"
Chopra recalled that a mutual friend, actor Graham Rogers, had also spoken highly of Nick Jonas. Her response to Nick's initial message was: "Hey.. Graham's told me so much about you.. Let's text. More private. My team can access this."
To verify Chopra's identity, Nick Jonas requested a photo with a time stamp. "He asked me for a photo that moment looking into the camera with a time stamp!" Chopra recounted, adding that she understood his suspicion. "Just to prove you're real, suspecting me already, like, but I appreciated it too."
Joe and Kevin Jonas playfully teased the couple, with Joe interjecting about the timeline. "I don't think eventually is the right word!" he quipped, referring to their engagement. The couple began dating in May 2018 and were engaged just two months later during a holiday in Crete. They married in December 2018 and welcomed their daughter Malti in 2022.
