Priscilla Presley reveals in her forthcoming memoir that Elvis Presley phoned her at 2 a.m. while she was in bed with Robert Kardashian, a claim she says Elvis would have found intolerable if he had known. The Sun published an excerpt from Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis that references the late singer’s call; Presley describes Elvis as volatile and notes that he carried a loaded gun.
Presley, who is now 80, began dating Kardashian in 1975 after her divorce from Elvis in 1973 and after a romance with karate instructor Mike Stone. Kardashian would later marry Kris Jenner in 1978 and share four children with Jenner before their 1991 divorce. "Robert was a sweet man, and I liked him," Presley writes, per the outlet. Still, his demanding job as a high-profile Hollywood attorney kept long hours that made the relationship difficult.
The Sun excerpt notes Kardashian’s demanding schedule and long hours that complicated the relationship, and a representative for Presley did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment. In 2023, an insider said Kardashian wanted to marry Presley.
Kardashian died of cancer in 2003, and Elvis died in 1977 at age 42. Lisa Marie Presley, the couple’s daughter, died in 2023 at 54. Presley writes that she remained friendly with Kardashian until his death, with his daughter Kim Kardashian reportedly calling from the hospital before he died. "Robert and I had one last conversation before he died," Presley writes. "He was the kindest of men, and I remember him with great affection."
Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis hits shelves on Sept. 23.
