Gemma Rose Barnes, a participant on Married At First Sight UK, has been admitted to the hospital after her waters broke prematurely. Barnes, 31, is expecting her second child, a son, with her husband Jordan Bishop. The couple is already parents to a two-year-old son, Franklin.

Barnes shared on Instagram that she was taken to the hospital for tests due to concerns that the baby might arrive early. "We have had a few hospital visits this month. And to top it all off my waters have completely gone again," she wrote in a post. Another update stated, "Just having tests done to determine our plan, we are hoping he can stay in until 37 weeks and baby be monitored."

Barnes posted a lighthearted comment about the situation, sharing a picture of Bishop wheeling a suitcase with the caption, "Not the baby moon we had in mind."

Barnes, a hairdresser, also has two sons, Ozzy and Cash, from a previous relationship. She married Bishop in Las Vegas in December 2025. Barnes previously appeared on Married At First Sight in 2022, where she was paired with Matt Murray. She has spoken about the severe personal impact of that union, which she said led to a breakdown, panic attacks, and struggles with drug addiction and homelessness.

Following her recovery, Barnes underwent gastric sleeve surgery in Turkey. She has described her current life as a happy ending. Previously, she disclosed her battle with cocaine addiction, admitting to spending up to £1,000 per day on drugs, which resulted in her becoming homeless. In an interview on The Cabin Recovery podcast, she stated that her struggles should have precluded her from being cast on the show.

"Psychiatrists could obviously tell that I was a bit of a mess," Barnes recalled. "I lost my home in the middle of all of that. I became homeless through my addiction… 12 years we were in that house."

She further elaborated on her addiction, stating, "There were days where I was sending a dealer a thousand pounds a day, and it was for other people, and for me." Barnes described the intense physical and psychological grip of addiction, noting the struggle to break free from the cycle of drug use. She expressed gratitude for her current state of recovery and stability.
