A single ticket holder has won the $40 million Powerball jackpot from draw 1571, which occurred on Thursday night. The winning numbers were 7, 29, 25, 18, 26, 23, and the Powerball was 16. The ticket was purchased from a NSW Lotteries outlet located in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
This marks the third-largest lottery prize ever won in Canberra. Lottery officials are currently unable to contact the winner directly because the ticket was not registered to a player card or an online account through The Lott Members Club. The winner is therefore unaware of their newfound multi-millionaire status until they check their ticket and come forward.
"Someone has become an overnight multi-millionaire but possibly doesn't know it yet," said The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart. "We can't wait for them to discover this winning news! Just imagine how $40 million might change your life and the lives of your nearest and dearest."
Individuals who believe they may hold the winning ticket are advised to secure it and contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the prize claim process.
