Post Malone launched the FIFA World Cup 2026 closing ceremony with an energetic performance at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday. The artist, who was announced as the headliner on Monday, performed a three-song set before the final match.

His performance included his new track "Chrome Heartbreaker" and his 2018 hit "Wow." For his final song, Malone surprised the audience by bringing out Swae Lee to perform their Grammy-nominated collaboration "Sunflower." Malone, 31, appeared in a denim outfit and a cowboy hat, while Lee, 33, wore a yellow jacket reminiscent of a sunflower.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that Malone's performance was designed to "celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world’s attention turns to the two finalists." He added that the ceremony would set the tone for a historic final, uniting fans from the 48 participating teams.

The World Cup Final is set to feature a halftime show curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, with performances by Madonna, Justin Bieber, Shakira, BTS, and Coldplay. The final match will see Spain face off against Argentina for the FIFA World Cup trophy.

Malone, born Austin Post, has achieved nine diamond certifications and released his debut country album, "F-1 Trillion," in 2024, which topped the Billboard 200 chart. He is currently preparing to release his seventh studio album, "The Eternal Buzz."
