Queensland Police are investigating an incident where two teenagers allegedly threw a 12-year-old boy into a lake at Forest Lake Amphitheatre in Brisbane. The event, captured on video and initially shared on TikTok, has raised concerns about bullying.

The video shows two individuals, described as teens in school uniforms and carrying backpacks, picking up the younger boy and dangling him over the water before pushing him in. The boy can be heard pleading, "Chill, come on, you are actually f***ing dragging me," and "Chill bro, I can't swim." Laughter is heard as the boy, still clothed, enters the water.

Authorities confirmed they are aware of the social media footage and are in contact with the boys involved and their families. No charges have been laid as of Friday. Queensland Police Minister Dan Purdie stated that any form of physical assault is not tolerated. The lake itself is known to be prone to blue-green algae outbreaks, which can be harmful.

Community Reaction and Accountability

The sister of the boy who was thrown into the lake shared a plea online, urging those involved to learn from the incident and be respectful and kind. She highlighted the sacrifices parents make for their children's safety.

Following the incident, the mother of one of the teenagers allegedly involved issued an apology via an anonymous post on a community Facebook page. She expressed her heartbreak that her child caused fear and distress and stated that her son has taken accountability for his actions. He has spoken with police and has been suspended from school.

"As a parent, my heart breaks knowing that my child has caused another child fear, distress and trauma," she wrote. "No parent ever wants to see their child hurt, and I am deeply sorry that your son experienced this because of my son's actions."

She added that her son is facing consequences at home and that the family is prepared for further repercussions from the school or legal process, emphasizing that they are not trying to avoid accountability.
