Beatie Edney, the 63-year-old actress known for her role in the BBC series "Poldark," has revealed she accidentally set herself on fire during a kitchen incident. Edney shared details and a photo of her damaged clothing on Instagram, describing the event as "stupid and dangerous."

According to Edney, the accident occurred while she was cooking. Her "flimsy cotton shirt" caught fire as she turned off the hob. In her haste to remove the burning garment, she also burned her hair.

"I’m OK, but just did a very stupid and dangerous thing," Edney wrote on social media, accompanying her message with a picture of her scorched red shirt. "Turning off my hob my flimsy cotton shirt caught fire. I managed to rip it off, burning my hair on the way. This is the result of the burning. It’s a favourite shirt! Was!! Be careful out there folks."

Edney, who played Prudie Paynter in "Poldark," also recently shared news of her co-star Tom York's wedding. York, who portrayed Sam Carne in the series, married model Kara Milner. The wedding was attended by several "Poldark" cast members, including Eleanor Tomlinson, Turlough Convery, and Freddie Wise, as well as the show's screenwriter Debbie Horsfield.

"Poldark," based on Winston Graham's novels, aired for five seasons from 2015 to 2019. The series chronicled the life of Ross Poldark and his relationship with Demelza. The final season notably diverged from the books penned by Graham.

Discussions about potential future adaptations of the "Poldark" saga have included the possibility of focusing on the next generation of characters, as suggested by Aidan Turner, who played the titular role. Turner noted that while a return to his lead role might be unlikely due to the character's age in the later novels, new stories could be developed.
