Rapper Pitbull, born Armando Christian Perez, has officially set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps. The record was established during his headline performance at the BST concert on Friday night, where 22,141 fans donned the distinctive headwear and aviator sunglasses.
Pitbull expressed his astonishment at the phenomenon, thanking his fans, affectionately known as 'baldies,' for making the event a reality. "Wow, we did it baldies! Tell you what, I'm speechless at this point," Pitbull said. "But I can tell you this much, I say it to the baldies all the time at the shows, 'When you put on them bald caps, you know you're about to have the time of your life!' And now you're officially in the Guinness Book of World Records. Dale!"
BBC Radio 1's Greg James was present to announce the achievement, also participating by wearing a bald cap himself.
To qualify for the record, attendees had to adhere to specific rules. Each participant was required to wear the bald cap securely, with their own hair tucked underneath the front and top. They also had to remain within a designated area and keep the cap on for a full minute. This was the first time this particular Guinness World Record category was attempted, meaning there were no previous benchmarks to surpass.
Pitbull, 45, is known for hit songs such as "Don't Stop the Party," "Fireball," "Timber," and "Gasolina." He has achieved significant commercial success, selling over 25 million studio albums and more than 100 million singles globally. Billboard recognized him as the 45th Top Artist and the 24th Top Latin Artist of the 2010s.
The BST concert also featured a performance by singer Kesha prior to Pitbull's set. The festival is scheduled to conclude with performances by Lewis Capaldi on Saturday and Sunday.
