Phoebe Tonkin and her husband, art dealer Bernard Lagrange, made a rare public appearance at New York Fashion Week on Tuesday, attending the opening party for The Dollhouse by artist Anna Weyant.

The Australian actress, 36, arrived with Lagrange at the invitation-only event presented by Capital One and The Cultivist. Tonkin wore a long grey coat over a black outfit, carried a small black leather handbag and finished the look with matching black pumps; her hair was styled in a slicked-back ponytail and she wore natural makeup with a nude lip. She also displayed a large diamond engagement ring. Lagrange opted for a black suit and pale blue shirt as the couple mingled with guests.

Tonkin and Lagrange were married in May in New York City after announcing their engagement in October 2024. The pair had kept their relationship largely private prior to the engagement announcement. Several Australian celebrities reportedly attended the wedding weekend, including Margot Robbie, Teresa Palmer, Samara Weaving and Lara Worthington. Photographs from the festivities showed Tonkin in multiple outfits: a newsprint gown worn during one event and a white sequined Chanel dress with floral detailing for the nuptials; Lagrange wore a classic black suit.

The couple first revealed the engagement with images posted to Tonkin’s Instagram account in October 2024. One photograph showed Tonkin in a white dress seated on Lagrange’s lap as the two shared a kiss, with an oval diamond engagement ring visible. Tonkin later posted an image of herself touching Lagrange’s face in a car while highlighting the ring.

Tonkin rose to prominence for roles including appearances on The Vampire Diaries and has since worked on a range of film and television projects. Lagrange is an art dealer; his association with the art world aligns with their appearance at an exhibition event for an artist and collector crowd.

The couple’s outing at the Fashion Week party underscored their still-deliberate approach to public life: they have made few joint appearances since marrying, and both have maintained a low profile while sharing select moments from their relationship on social media.
