Phoebe Bridgers was hospitalized with appendicitis on her 32nd birthday, leading to the cancellation of her United Kingdom concerts for the week. The Grammy-winning artist announced the news via her Instagram stories on Wednesday, posting a photo of herself in a hospital bed. "I got appendicitis for my birthday," Bridgers wrote, adding that all UK dates would be postponed but promising to make them up to fans.
Bridgers, a member of the supergroup Boygenius, had been scheduled to perform in Kingston on August 19, Brighton on August 20, and Bristol on August 21. These performances have now been postponed, with rescheduled dates to be announced. Banquet Records, the organizer for the Kingston shows, confirmed the cancellations on Instagram, expressing well wishes for Bridgers' recovery and apologizing for any inconvenience.
The cancellations come shortly after the release of Bridgers' third studio album, "Lost Weekend," on August 14. The album features 16 tracks, including "The Outside," "Lost Boys," and "Still Standing." Earlier in August, Bridgers hosted a roller-skating listening party for the album in Glendale, California. She noted that the creation of "Lost Weekend" took a considerable amount of time, with periods of delay in studio booking.
Bridgers is slated to begin her "Lost Tour" in support of the new album on September 14 in Indianapolis. The tour includes stops in Chicago, Brooklyn, Toronto, Nashville, Inglewood, and Seattle, before heading to the UK and other European cities in November. The tour is scheduled to conclude in Stockholm, Sweden, on December 12. A no-phone policy, including smartwatches and electronic accessories, will be enforced during the shows.
Bridgers, who has earned four Grammy Awards, began her music career as a child and was a member of the band Sloppy Jane. Her first solo album, "Stranger In The Alps," was released in 2017, reaching number four on the U.S. Americana/Folk Albums Billboard chart. She has also released music with Boygenius, including the 2023 EP "The Rest" and the album "The Record," which won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 2024. Bridgers has collaborated with artists such as Taylor Swift, SZA, The Killers, and Kid Cudi.
