Phoebe Bridgers has achieved her first solo number one album on the UK's Official Albums Chart while recovering from appendicitis in the hospital. The 32-year-old singer was admitted to the hospital on her birthday, Monday, August 17, just days after the release of her latest album, "Lost Weekend."
Bridgers shared a photo on Instagram from her hospital bed, holding a trophy for her number one album with the caption, "Album is number one in the UK and I exploded." The post prompted well wishes from fans for a speedy recovery.
The singer had been scheduled for three concerts in August: Kingston on August 19, Brighton on August 20, and Bristol on August 21. These performances have since been postponed, with new dates to be announced. Banquet Records, which organized the Kingston shows, confirmed the cancellations on Instagram, citing Bridgers' illness and wishing her well.
"TONIGHT'S PHOEBE BRIDGERS SHOWS ARE OFF. as on her insta story (pictured), Phoebe is unwell - get well soon!! - so the Kingston events will have to move," the record store stated. "We of course wish her all the best, and apologise for any disappointment. we're working closely with her global teams, and will update soon as we can."
"Lost Weekend," Bridgers' third studio album, was released on August 14. Her previous album, "Punisher" from 2022, reached number six in the UK. The new LP features 16 tracks, including "The Outside," "Lost Boys," "The Governor's Waltz," and "Still Standing."
In recent comments, Bridgers spoke about her time away from music, expressing a desire to create. She explained that the process for "Lost Weekend" was extended, involving periods of studio work interspersed with breaks. "This album took forever. Which is great!" she remarked.
Bridgers is also set to commence her "Lost Tour" later this year in support of the new album, with the first show scheduled for September 14 in Indianapolis.
