Luke Castellan will undergo a dramatic visual transformation in the third season of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians," according to actor Charlie Bushnell. The upcoming season, slated for release on November 20 on Disney+, will find Luke in a considerably less pristine state than previously seen.

Bushnell explained that Luke's disheveled appearance stems from his efforts to regain the favor of the Titan Kronos after a failed attempt to revive him. This setback marked the first time Luke has faced such a significant failure, prompting him to work intensely to mend his standing with Kronos. This internal struggle is reflected in his outward presentation.

"I feel like Luke kind of failed Kronos pretty miserably last season and Kronos kind of put him in his place for it," Bushnell told Decider. "I think that’s the first time Luke has ever experienced that and so I think in between the end of last season and now, Luke has been like working overtime to try and make things right and climb back up the ladder and get back on Kronos’ good side."

In contrast to his Season 2 portrayal, where he appeared polished and confident, Luke's appearance in Season 3 will reflect his fall from grace. Bushnell teased that the character will look as though he has not slept or maintained personal care routines, a stark departure from his earlier appearance aboard the Princess Andromeda.

"I mean without saying too much, the first scene we see him in, he’s looking rough. He’s lookin’ rough. And he’s no longer got his nice, like, you know, cruise skinny jeans, the nice Ralph Lauren sweater. He’s pretty beat up. He looks like he hasn’t showered in months," Bushnell said.

While battling to appease Kronos, Luke continues to play a significant role as an antagonist in Season 3. He and his followers intend to incite a war against the gods. The season will also see Luke interacting with Annabeth, though this reunion is complicated by a hostage situation designed to manipulate Percy into undertaking a perilous task, a plot point familiar to readers of Rick Riordan's "The Titan's Curse," the book on which the season is based.

Fans will discover the extent of Luke's deteriorating condition and his ongoing quest to undermine the gods when "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" Season 3 premieres on November 20. The first two seasons are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
