Patsy Kensit is reconstructing her life from the ground up after experiencing financial ruin approximately ten years ago. The 58-year-old actress, who recently announced her return to the ITV soap Emmerdale after a 20-year absence, shared that she lost her home but has gained significant insights from the ordeal.
Speaking on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, Kensit described a corporate investment that went awry, leading to the loss of all her assets. "I lost everything. Lost my home. And so I'm having to start from scratch," she revealed, emphasizing her status as a survivor. She indicated that she is currently taking on a substantial amount of work to aid in her recovery.
Kensit previously disclosed that a skincare company she was partnering with collapsed unexpectedly. "It all fell through, and I lost everything," she told Hello! in 2024. "There was financial backing and then the CEO had a stroke." This led to her having to sell her home and rebuild her life, a process she described as "brutal."
During a 2025 appearance on the Hello! podcast Second Act, Kensit discussed her newfound embrace of budgeting after years of avoiding her financial situation. She admitted to having experienced "terrible sleepless nights" but viewed the challenges as learning experiences. "And the amount that I was spending on things when you really go through stuff. All I can say from my stance is I'm really fortunate," she reflected.
Kensit is set to reprise her role as the villain Sadie King in Emmerdale. The actress, who originally appeared in the series from 2004 to 2006, is returning for a new storyline described as "explosive" and "guaranteed to shock." She noted that the extensive dialogue and script learning required for the role are beneficial for her at 58, exercising her "memory muscle."
She expressed gratitude for the warm reception from her colleagues on set, stating that cast members who have remained with the show or returned have been "gorgeous." Kensit admitted to being "very, very, very nervous" about her return but found the "Yorkshire welcome" to be genuine.
Reports earlier this month indicated some Emmerdale cast members were reportedly unhappy with ITV's decision to bring back Kensit at a time when other cast members have been axed. ITV has faced recent cuts due to shifting viewer habits and a move towards streaming services.
