Paris Jackson drew attention at a New York Fashion Week event Friday when she attended the launch party for 72 Magazine in a sheer long-sleeved brown top worn without a bra, paired with a pale gray miniskirt and a dramatic tiered train.

The 27-year-old, daughter of the late pop star Michael Jackson, completed the look with deep burgundy go-go boots and a voluminous updo. She shared photos from her appearances in New York on Instagram on Saturday, writing, "front row, back pain — high fashion, low patience #nyfw."

The event marked the debut issue celebration for 72 Magazine, the new title founded by Edward Enninful, formerly European editorial director at Condé Nast. Julia Roberts appears on the inaugural cover; Roberts posted on social media Friday congratulating Enninful and praising his work in creativity and inclusivity. Singer Sam Smith also attended the party with designer Christian Cowan.

Jackson, who has pursued a career in music and public life separate from her father's legacy, has recently been vocal about her relationship to the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic. The two-part, big-budget film directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate, is scheduled to begin release April 24, 2026, with cousin Jaafar Jackson portraying the King of Pop.

Earlier this month actor Colman Domingo, who plays Joe Jackson in the film, told People that he had "chatted briefly" with Paris Jackson and her brother Prince at the amfAR Venezia Gala and that they were "very much in support of our film." Jackson rebutted that characterization on Instagram Stories, writing that she had "0% involvement" on set and that Domingo should not describe her as "helpful". She said she had read an early draft of the script, offered notes on elements she considered dishonest, and moved on when those concerns were not addressed.

The exchange underscores Jackson's ongoing efforts to distance herself from the production, even as family members participate. The film's producers and filmmakers have said they aim to chronicle the life and career of Michael Jackson; Jackson's public statements have emphasized that she was not consulted on later drafts and is not participating in the project.

At the 72 Magazine event, attendees and social media response focused on the magazine's high-profile launch and its debut cover interview between Julia Roberts and longtime friend George Clooney, which the magazine teased earlier in the week. Jackson's outfit and her decision to post images from the front row added to coverage of the party and the larger schedule of runway shows and industry gatherings during New York Fashion Week.

Jackson has maintained a public profile through music and occasional acting and modeling work. Her Instagram posts from the weekend reflected both the glamour and fatigue of the fashion calendar, and her public comments on the biopic reaffirmed that she neither endorsed nor participated in the film's production.

Organizers for 72 Magazine did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the party. Representatives for Jackson did not provide additional comment beyond her social media posts.
