Ozzy Osbourne made a surprise posthumous appearance on the Sept. 8 episode of Lego Masters Jr., appearing on a giant screen above the young contestants as they raced to complete their builds.

The moment occurred during the Nickelodeon reality competition hosted by his daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who asked her father — via the screen — to "scare a few of the kids." Ozzy, who died July 22 at age 76, said in the prerecorded clip, "One hour left, kids! You’ve got one hour left to finish those builds!" He punctuated the message with his signature laughter and a final, "Good luck, kids!" Judge Boone Langston later quipped the surprise was "crazy train," referencing the singer's 1980 hit.

On-screen interaction with Ozzy was brief but notable: contestants looked up, hurried to complete designs and Kelly Osbourne thanked her father, saying, "That was perfect! We love you." The episode credited the guest appearance to the prearranged segment and used archived footage of the Black Sabbath frontman dressed in black and wearing his customary jewelry.

Osbourne's family announced his death on July 22, saying he died surrounded by family. A statement from his wife Sharon Osbourne, daughter Kelly and sons Jack, Aimee and Louis said, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning." Authorities later determined the cause of death included cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease.

The family held a funeral procession through Birmingham, England, on July 30, followed by a private burial the next day. In the weeks after the funeral, Kelly Osbourne posted tributes and updates on social media reflecting her grief and the family's attempts to cope. On Aug. 4 she wrote that "grief is a strange thing—it sneaks up on you in waves," and said she was "holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind."

Kelly returned to social media again in September, sharing a video that showed her mother, Sharon, participating in falconry. The post marked Sharon's first public appearance since the funeral and drew supportive comments from fans.

Lego Masters Jr., a spin-off of the adult Lego Masters format, features young contestants who compete in timed building challenges judged by Amy Corbett and Boone Langston while Kelly Osbourne serves as host. The episode's producers said the decision to include Ozzy's clip was made in coordination with the family and the show's creative team.

Osbourne's televised cameo offers a brief public reminder of his cultural footprint beyond music. As the frontman for Black Sabbath and later as a solo artist, he was a prominent figure in heavy metal for decades. The family's public tributes and the procession in his hometown underscored his international profile and the continuing public interest in his life and legacy.

Representatives for Nickelodeon did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the segment. The episode aired as scheduled, and the brief appearance was met with a mix of surprise and affection from viewers and fans who took to social media to note the unusual posthumous cameo.
