The fifth and final season of the Netflix series "Outer Banks" is set to premiere on Thursday, August 20. New episodes of the show typically drop on the streaming platform at 3:00 a.m. ET, which is midnight PT.

The upcoming season will consist of ten episodes, concluding the adventures of the Pogues. The official synopsis indicates that the main characters will be "stranded far from home" and face "familiar threats." The story will see John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, and Cleo dealing with the continued pursuit by Chandler Groff and the Corsairs, while the Kooks prevent their return home. The group must form an "uneasy alliance with Rafe" as they race to "reclaim their future" and achieve the freedom they have been seeking.

"Every summer has led to this," according to promotional material for the season.

While Season 5 marks the end of the "Outer Banks" series, a prequel series set 20 years before the events of the original show is reportedly in development at Netflix. Series co-creator Josh Pate confirmed that work is underway on the script for the prequel.

For viewers looking for additional "Outer Banks" content, "Outer Banks: The Official Podcast" is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, August 20, on Netflix. The first five episodes will feature interviews with the core cast members and will also be available in audio-only format on platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
