The Pogues have finally made it home, concluding their epic treasure hunts, betrayals, and improbable escapes in the fifth and final season of Netflix's "Outer Banks." The season's finale sees the core group, including John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, Cleo, and Rafe, embark on one last race for the legendary Royal Merchant gold, facing dangers such as the Blue Crown, a deadly hurricane, and the lingering specters of their past.

The climactic journey takes the Pogues beyond the Outer Banks to Azerbaijan, where they attempt to thwart arms dealer Anton Finch's plan to use the Blue Crown during an impending meteor shower. During their escape, Cleo is arrested and subsequently deported to Nassau, Bahamas, while the others continue their mission.

Kiara eventually obtains the Blue Crown from Finch and takes it to a lake during the meteor shower, hoping it might bring back JJ. While the crown does not resurrect him, it facilitates a powerful final connection to her memories of JJ. Finch reclaims the crown, leaving the Pogues to return to the Outer Banks without it, just as Hurricane Cassandra approaches.

Simultaneously, back in Kildare, Rose has obtained the Royal Merchant gold after stealing it from the Pogues. She is attacked by Chandler Groff, who intends to kill her. Wheezie intervenes, shooting Groff in the arm and saving her stepmother. Groff escapes with the gold in Rose's car. During the hurricane, Kiara confronts Groff on the sinking boat about JJ's death. Their struggle results in Groff going overboard, presumed dead, and the boat beginning to sink.

Kiara attempts to keep the boat afloat by discarding heavy cargo, including the Royal Merchant gold. She is eventually forced to push the gold overboard herself before falling into the water, but is rescued by the Pogues.

Following the hurricane, Pope uses his knowledge of the area and environmental factors to calculate the treasure's likely drift pattern. John B dives into the ocean and locates the gold buried beneath debris and sand. The Pogues manage to recover a portion of the fortune immediately and retrieve the rest in the following days.

With the Royal Merchant fortune secured, the Pogues invest the wealth into rebuilding Kildare. They purchase back properties, restore homes, and work towards creating a unified community where Kooks and Pogues can coexist. The season's conclusion depicts the characters and their families finding their place after their tumultuous adventure.
