Members of the original Skins cast reunited this week, more than 17 years after the group last appeared together on the British teen drama.

Kaya Scodelario posted a series of images and short clips on Instagram showing herself with Nicholas Hoult, Daniel Kaluuya and Joe Dempsie. Scodelario captioned the post, "The way I used to pray for brothers growing up – knowing I have you all now is everything."

The post drew an emotional response from fans on social media, with users on X writing that the images had "put me in my feels" and expressing delight that the cast still interact. Other replies noted the sense of nostalgia — "Makes me feel so old!" — and remarked on the later success of several former cast members.

Skins debuted on Channel 4's E4 in 2007 and became known for its candid portrayal of teenage life in Britain, depicting sex, drugs and complex family and friendship dynamics. The series was created by Bryan Elsley and his son Jamie Brittain and rotated casts in successive "generations," but the first ensemble helped launch the careers of a number of actors who went on to higher-profile film and television work.

Nicholas Hoult, who played Tony Stonem, had already appeared in About a Boy at age 11 before Skins introduced him to a wider audience at 17; he later appeared in films including the X-Men series, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Favourite and The Menu, and recently took on the role of Lex Luthor in a new Superman film. Scodelario, cast at 14 as Tony's younger sister Effy despite having no prior acting experience, went on to roles in projects such as Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen and the recent Nosferatu adaptation.

Daniel Kaluuya, who played Posh Kenneth, and Dev Patel, who portrayed Anwar Kharral in the early episodes, have both received Oscar attention in later careers; Kaluuya won the Academy Award for best supporting actor for Judas and the Black Messiah in 2021. Other alumni have moved into varied fields outside mainstream acting.

The last episode to feature the original cast ran in April 2008, the 10th and final episode of the show's second season titled "Final Goodbyes." Viewers and critics at the time noted the show's frank tone and the authenticity many younger viewers saw in its characters.

The recent reunion underscores Skins's continuing cultural resonance for the generation that grew up with it and highlights how the series served as a springboard for several cast members' careers. Skins remains available to watch on Channel 4.
