An American creator on subscription platforms says she earns thousands of dollars each month by recording personalized voice notes for fans, a niche she attributes largely to a British audience that finds her Texan accent appealing.

Holly Jane, 42, a mother of three who uses the handle @Holly.johnston_xo on Instagram, told Jam Press that her voice recordings bring in close to $20,000 a month on top of wider earnings she said average about $80,000 monthly. Jane said she joined OnlyFans in 2021 after leaving a job as a nurse recruiter and saw rapid financial returns within months.

Jane, who described herself as a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said her soft Texan accent is a selling point. "People underestimate me, but it works in my favor," she told Jam Press, according to the New York Post. "My voice alone now pays the bills and more — it's amazing to think something so simple has become such a huge part of my success."

She said she charges roughly $20 for a brief greeting and up to $100 for more elaborate recordings. Simple messages include personalized "good morning" greetings and bedtime messages; other requests involve recitations of Bible verses, intimate roleplay and requests that invoke specific relationships or scenarios. Jane said she receives between six and eight voice note requests a day and can make several hundred dollars in a single session of recordings.

Fans request personalized voice notes

Jane said much of the demand comes from men in the U.K., who she described as particularly receptive to her accent. Some fans ask her to play roles such as a wife’s friend, a co-worker or a sister-in-law, while others request she act as a missionary, a request she attributes to her background in the Mormon church. She said the discovery of her online work prompted conflict with church leadership and led to her departure from the congregation when a bishop learned of her account.

In describing her early success on OnlyFans, Jane said one of her best months brought in nearly $250,000. She told Jam Press that voice notes now make up a "serious chunk" of her income, and that she had not expected her accent to become a marketable asset.

Recording personalized messages

The emergence of personalized audio messaging as a revenue stream reflects a broader trend among creators who monetize direct, one-to-one interactions with paying subscribers. Jane's account, which she says has 1.6 million Instagram followers, illustrates how creators can combine social media visibility with paid, bespoke content.

Jane's account and comments were reported by Jam Press and summarized in the New York Post. She described the decision to continue her work despite personal and community repercussions as worthwhile for the financial independence it provided.

Her experience adds to ongoing discussions about the ways creators monetize content on subscription platforms and the social consequences that can follow. Jane said she had not anticipated the scale of the demand for voice notes but has adapted the offering into a consistent revenue stream that now represents a significant part of her business.
