Olivia Jean, wife of The White Stripes artist Jack White, has filed for divorce, citing "inappropriate marital conduct" by her husband. Jean submitted legal documents in Tennessee on June 3, designating that date as the official separation.
According to court records, Jean's lawyers stated in the filing that "Wife would show that Husband is guilty of inappropriate marital conduct, which makes further cohabitation unsafe and improper." Jean is also seeking spousal support and to be included on White's life insurance policy.
The couple married in April 2022 during a concert at the Masonic Temple in Detroit. White proposed to Jean, a fellow musician, on stage during a performance of the 2001 song "Hotel Yorba." The impromptu ceremony was attended by their parents, with their respective bassists serving as best man and maid of honor. Jean described the wedding to The New York Times in July 2022 as "the best experience of my life."
Later that year, in November 2022, White acknowledged Jean in his acceptance speech as he and The White Stripes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He thanked his family, including his wife, for "pushing me to make all that noise in the house nowadays."
Jean and White met through the music industry. She signed with White's independent label, Third Man Records, in 2009. After fronting the band The Black Belles, she launched a solo career.
White previously married musician Meg White from 1996 to 2000 and model Karen Elson from 2005 to 2013. They have two children together, Scarlett Teresa White, 20, and Henry Lee White, 18.
In 2022, White told Rolling Stone that he had undergone a significant personal transformation during the COVID-19 pandemic, describing it as a "complete rebirth on all levels of my life." He stated he set a goal to emerge from the pandemic with a fundamentally different perspective on life.
