Hulu’s new comedy series, ‘Not Suitable for Work,’ has concluded its first season with its ninth episode, leaving fans eager for more. However, the streaming service has not yet officially greenlit a second season, and there will be no tenth episode of the current season.

The season finale, which aired on June 23, left several storylines open, particularly concerning romantic entanglements and career developments for the main characters, AJ (Ella Hunt), Abby (Avantika), Davis (Will Angus), Josh (Jack Martin), and Kel (Nicholas Duvernay). Abby and Josh appear to be professionally successful, while Kel faces job termination but finds success on stage. Davis was fired from his job after a confrontation but appears to be developing a romantic connection with AJ, which is then complicated by Josh’s apparent heartbreak.

Creator Mindy Kaling's past successes on streaming platforms and positive fan reception suggest potential for renewal. Despite a 52% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, viewership numbers will ultimately determine the show’s future.

If ‘Not Suitable for Work’ is renewed, a potential Season 2 premiere date is speculative. Drawing parallels with Kaling’s series ‘Running Point,’ which saw its second season released about 14 months after its first, new episodes of ‘Not Suitable for Work’ could possibly arrive in 2027. Production timelines would need to align for a similar turnaround.

Season 1 of ‘Not Suitable for Work’ is currently available for streaming on Hulu. Subscription plans for Hulu start at $10.99 per month for the ad-supported tier, with an ad-free option available for $18.99 per month. Bundle options including Disney+ and Max are also offered.
