Nina Dobrev posted a cryptic TikTok video about "fixing" a man just days before she and Shaun White announced they had ended their engagement, multiple outlets reported Thursday.

In the short clip, uploaded to Dobrev's main TikTok account the Friday before the split news, the actor mouths lines from an audio track that included, "With no underwear, in case they wanna kiss my a**," and, in response to the prompt "What's your advice for women trying to fix their man?", she lip-synced: "Listen, Bob the Builder, he's got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a d**n construction crew." The post's caption included several construction-themed emojis.

Dobrev did not directly address her relationship in the video, and social media users speculated in comments that the clip may have foreshadowed the split. A source speaking to People described the separation as "mutual and made with love and a deep respect for one another," and said the pair remain supportive of each other.

The couple, who were first linked in 2020 and became engaged in October 2024, have shared public glimpses of their relationship, traveling together and attending events. Photos from White's proposal showed him dropping to one knee and presenting Dobrev with a five-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring; White posted on social media at the time, "She said YES!" Dobrev later unpinned her engagement announcement on Instagram and attended the Sept. 7 premiere of Eternity during the Toronto International Film Festival without the ring, outlets reported.

An insider quoted by the Daily Mail said the split followed differing priorities, with White — a retired Olympic snowboarder who has pursued entrepreneurship and some acting — "very ready for marriage and kids," while Dobrev remained focused on advancing her acting career. "Nina was on board but also very interested in seeing where her acting career was going to go, as that was and is very important to her," the source said. The insider added that the couple had struggled to align on a common life goal, which contributed to tension in the relationship.

The two were last publicly photographed holding hands during an outing in Los Angeles on Aug. 31, according to published reports. Dobrev has previously spoken about the couple's regular date nights and how they kept their relationship active amid their careers; in a January 2024 interview she said they alternated planning weekly surprises for one another.

Before dating White, Dobrev had high-profile relationships including one with her Vampire Diaries castmate Ian Somerhalder. White's past relationship with singer Sarah Barthel of the band Phantogram ran from 2013 until 2019.

Representatives for Dobrev and White did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and Daily Mail reported it had reached out to both camps.

The public chronology provided by the couple's posts and media coverage places the engagement in October 2024 and the split announcement in September 2025. Both People and the Daily Mail published accounts citing unnamed insiders; the outlets described the split as amicable and rooted in differing personal priorities rather than an acrimonious break.

Dobrev's brief TikTok, which drew attention after the split was reported, remains on her page with the construction-themed emojis in the caption. Fans and commenters linked the tone of the video to the news, while the couple's statements to media emphasize continued mutual respect as they move forward separately.
