Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have ended their engagement and split after five years together, People reported Thursday.

"It was a mutual decision, and wasn't an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another," a source close to the pair told People. The New York Post reported it had reached out to representatives for comment.

Dobrev, 36, and White, 39, were last photographed together Aug. 31 in Los Angeles, holding hands while running errands. The week before, the couple was seen at the Studio City Farmers Market with their dog, Maverick, where White was photographed carrying a bouquet of flowers as Dobrev walked the pet on a leash.

The split comes about 10 months after the couple made their engagement public. Dobrev announced the proposal on Instagram in October 2024 with a post that included images from the moment and the caption, "RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé." The actress later unpinned that post from her profile. Dobrev also did not wear an engagement ring to the red carpet premiere of the film "Eternity" at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.

Dobrev is best known for her role on the television series The Vampire Diaries. White is a professional snowboarder and Olympic gold-medal winner who has been a prominent figure in winter sports for more than a decade.

The pair made several public appearances during their relationship and shared photographs of personal moments on social media. They were frequently photographed together in Los Angeles in the summer of 2025, and maintained a visible presence at public events and outings.

Representatives for both Dobrev and White were contacted for comment by the New York Post, which reported on the split. No further statement from either star has been released publicly.

The report marks the latest high-profile split in entertainment circles this year and follows several months of the couple's public activity together. Further developments or statements from the parties involved have not been reported.
