The character Nikki, from the recent hit film 'Obsession,' is now making appearances at Universal Studios Hollywood as part of the annual Halloween Horror Nights event. Social media has captured video of the character, depicted as possessed and possessive, walking through the park covered in fake blood.
The character's dialogue at the event includes lines directly from the film, such as "Why don’t you love me? I feel like you don’t love me as much as I love you. Like it’s not mutual!" The film 'Obsession' centers on Bear, a lonely young man who wishes his friend Nikki would love him more. The wish comes true, resulting in a violent and obsessively possessive girlfriend.
Universal Studios had previously announced the inclusion of the 'Obsession' character in their Halloween Horror Nights, allowing fans to encounter popular creepy figures. However, some attendees have questioned the depiction, arguing that Nikki is not a villain but a victim of an imposed obsession. Actress Inde Navarette, who played Nikki in the movie, has expressed support for the character's presence at the event and her desire to portray the role herself at the park.
Fan reactions to the park's portrayal of Nikki have been divided. Some commenters on social media expressed that the character seemed to be reduced to an "angry shouting lady" or noted inaccuracies in the costume, such as the hair. Others found the character's appearance in the park to be particularly unsettling.
'Obsession,' written and directed by Curry Barker, achieved significant box office success, grossing $505 million against a $750,000 budget, making it one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time.
In addition to the 'Obsession' feature, Halloween Horror Nights also includes a haunted house tribute to the late rockstar Ozzy Osbourne. Both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Orlando are hosting "Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness." The Hollywood attraction includes a nod to Osbourne's 1982 incident where he bit the head off a bat during a concert, featuring an animatronic bat with Osbourne's bloody severed head. Osbourne's wife, Sharon, collaborated with Universal on the haunted house, stating that Osbourne's music is central to the experience and that he would have appreciated the tribute.
