Nicole Kidman has showcased a more untamed side in a new, sultry music video for the latest collaboration between Troye Sivan and Charli XCX, titled "She's The Best." The Oscar-winning Australian actress, 59, takes center stage in the cinematic clip, where she is depicted smoking a cigarette and performing sensual, uninhibited dance moves.
In the video, Kidman is seen in a fitted black outfit, moving suggestively across a bar and engaging with the camera. The scenes include her casually smoking before launching into a steamy dance sequence, a stark contrast to her previous roles. This appearance marks a reunion for Kidman and Sivan, who previously collaborated on the 2018 drama "Boy Erased," which served as Sivan's feature film acting debut.
Sivan told Rolling Stone that Kidman was his immediate thought for the video. "I was like, 'Who is the best?' Nicole Kidman. She's the best. The first thing that came to my mind was, 'I wonder if she'd be in the video?'" He expressed his surprise and awe when the acclaimed actress agreed to participate, calling it "surreal" to have her in their music video.
The collaboration also marks a reunion for Sivan with Charli XCX, a longtime friend. The pair have previously released popular tracks such as "1999" and "2099."
This provocative music video follows Kidman's critically acclaimed performance in the erotic thriller "Babygirl," released less than two years ago. In that film, she portrayed a high-powered CEO involved in an affair with a much younger intern, a role that generated significant discussion about middle-aged women and sexuality on screen. Kidman herself stated that the role was a new territory for her and that it was "beautiful to be seen in this way," contrasting with how women are sometimes perceived as their careers progress.
Kidman has also shared that her on-screen free-spiritedness has real-world parallels. In a British Vogue cover story, she admitted to occasionally disguising herself with a wig and glasses to attend raves in Ibiza unnoticed, stating, "I'll put on glasses. Sometimes I'll wear a wig to hide... and then I can just dance." Despite her introverted nature, she expressed a love for "to lose it with a group of people and dance."
