Nicole Kidman, a prominent brand ambassador for Chanel, drew attention at the U.S. premiere of "Practical Magic 2" in Los Angeles by wearing a black lace gown from Atelier Versace. The 59-year-old actress, who has represented Chanel since last year, arrived in a creation by the Italian fashion house.
The gown featured a fitted black lace bodice and an asymmetrical hemline. It is notably the first design by Pieter Mulier for Versace. Mulier, a Belgian designer, previously served as creative director at Alaïa and has worked with Calvin Klein and Jil Sander. His appointment as chief creative officer at Versace followed Donatella Versace's departure.
Kidman styled the dress with drop earrings by Parure Atelier, a black lace choker, and matching lace shoes. Her hair was styled in loose waves. She stars in "Practical Magic 2" alongside Sandra Bullock, 62, reprising their roles from the 1998 original film.
This fashion choice contrasted with her appearance at the film's European premiere in London, where she wore a silver Chanel gown. The Versace dress, showcasing more of her legs, sparked varied reactions on social media, with comments ranging from "sexy gothic witch" to reservations about its suitability for the actress.
The dress is the first design from Pieter Mulier for Atelier Versace. Mulier took the helm of Versace after Donatella Versace's 28-year tenure. His predecessor, Dario Vitale, had a tenure of less than a year.
