The Kineo Awards, celebrating their 25th anniversary, will present Peltz Beckham with the honor next weekend at Venice's Casa Cinema Giovani. According to the award citation, the 31-year-old actress, screenwriter, and producer began her acting career two decades ago. The awards note that in recent years, she has garnered increasing international attention for her diverse roles both on and off-screen.
Peltz Beckham is being recognized alongside veteran actress Faye Dunaway, who will receive a lifetime achievement award and stars in Peltz Beckham's new self-funded film, Prima. The film, which does not yet have an official release date, was a project Peltz Beckham has been working on since January. She also wrote, directed, and starred in the independent drama Lola. Her acting credits include roles in The Last Airbender, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bates Motel, Holidate, Welcome to Chippendales, and The Beauty.
The ceremony, established in 2002 by Kinéo Cultural Association president Rosetta Sannelli, takes place during the Venice Film Festival but is not directly affiliated with the main festival programming.
Prima also features Jack Huston, Mira Sorvino, and Betty Gabriel, and was directed by the Morelli Brothers. Peltz Beckham plays Margo, a prima ballerina facing significant life decisions in the film. She and her family attended a private screening in Los Angeles in May.
The film has also been a subject of discussion due to Peltz Beckham's significant weight loss in preparation for her role. She reportedly underwent four months of intensive ballerina training, adhering to a strict diet that resulted in a weight loss to under 100 pounds. Recently, her husband Brooklyn Beckham defended her against online criticism regarding her appearance. In a comment on an Instagram post, he responded to a follower's concern about her weight, stating, "Don't ever talk about my wife. She's absolutely beautiful and you should never comment on a woman's body. It's disgraceful."
