Nicola Adams, a decorated Olympic boxer, has shared insights into her personal life, including her identity as a "gold star lesbian" and the reasons behind her past relationship's end. Adams, who has never been in a relationship with a man, clarified the terminology during a conversation about her dating life and recent public speculation.

Adams also addressed her connection with Christine McGuinness, a television presenter who recently described herself as a "five-star lesbian." Adams stated that while they know each other and share similar tastes, their interaction was primarily friendly, and she believes McGuinness may have coined the "five-star lesbian" term herself.

Relationship End and Personal Boundaries

Adams's previous relationship with model Ella Baig ended in 2024 after seven years. The couple, who had a son named Taylor via IVF, separated due to disagreements over Baig's activities on the platform OnlyFans. Adams explained that while she does not judge others' choices, the increasingly explicit nature of Baig's content made her uncomfortable.

"She's always been on OnlyFans, but it was becoming more and more extreme, more and more explicit, and it's not something I felt comfortable with," Adams stated. "All I can do is voice my opinion and see how it's taken and I did that. And we couldn't agree, so we parted ways."

Despite attempts at counseling, the relationship concluded. Adams emphasized her preference for monogamy and expressed that while she wanted the relationship to work for their son, it ultimately did not.

Navigating New Relationships and Motherhood

Following her breakup, Adams described her current phase as a period of self-discovery and enjoyment. She referred to her recent dating experiences as "situationships" and expressed an openness to a serious relationship while avoiding self-imposed pressure.

Motherhood has been a significant aspect of Adams's life since the birth of her son, Taylor. She has spoken about the challenges and joys of parenting, drawing on her own experiences with a turbulent childhood to ensure a different upbringing for her son. "Therapy helped me be a better parent to Taylor. I don't want to repeat the mistakes my parents made," she said.

Adams has also transitioned into acting following her retirement from boxing in 2019. She has secured roles in television shows and is set to appear in her first movie, playing a cage fighter. Adams views acting as her primary career now and expresses a desire for diverse roles beyond the realm of sports.

"Acting's my main job now, so it's just so exciting that my dream is coming true," she commented. She has expressed aspirations for roles in major franchises, including potentially playing a Marvel villain.
