Nicholas Braun has been ordered by a New Hampshire court to cease using alcohol and any narcotic or controlled substances while his case proceeds after a late‑August DUI arrest, court documents show.

Braun, 37, entered a plea of not guilty to a DUI‑Impairment charge stemming from an Aug. 29 incident in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, and is also charged with operating his vehicle without lights, according to court records reviewed by People. While released on bail, the actor was ordered to refrain from consuming alcohol or using illegal or controlled substances as a condition of his release.

Authorities took Braun into custody at the Carroll County jail at about 11:15 p.m. EDT on Aug. 29, and he was released around 12:15 a.m. the following day, according to earlier media reports. Sources told Page Six that Braun had been in the area to attend a wedding. Police reportedly did not photograph a mug shot after his arrest because camera equipment malfunctioned.

An arraignment that had been scheduled for this week was called off, the outlet reported, and Braun’s case is expected to go to trial early next year. Prosecutors filed the DUI‑Impairment count alongside the charge for operating without lights; the criminal case remains pending in New Hampshire courts.

Braun is best known for his role as Greg Hirsch on the HBO drama Succession, for which he earned three Primetime Emmy nominations. The character, introduced in the series’ first episode as an awkward relative seeking work at the Roy family’s media company, developed into a more calculating figure over the show’s four seasons. Succession concluded after a fourth season that followed corporate and familial battles sparked by the death of patriarch Logan Roy.

Beyond his television work, Braun has appeared in films including Cat Person (2023), How to Be Single (2016) and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012). He is also a restaurateur with ownership stakes in several New York City establishments, including Ray’s Bar, Jac’s on Bond, Pebble Bar and S&P Lunch, according to prior reporting.

On social media in March, Braun confirmed a relationship with production executive Hyunji Ward, posting that she was his "sweet sweet DARLING of a girlfriend" and that she makes him "my best self." Representatives for Braun did not immediately respond to requests for comment; the Daily Mail reported it had reached out to his representatives.

Court orders that restrict substance use are common conditions of release in DUI and similar cases. The next scheduled court activity in Braun’s case has not been publicly disclosed beyond reports that a trial is likely early next year. The criminal proceedings will determine whether prosecutors can prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
