Netflix is set to release a new film exploring the life of Ted Kaczynski, the domestic terrorist known as the Unabomber, on September 25th. The movie, directed by Janus Metz Pedersen, will feature a dual timeline, examining Kaczynski's time as a prodigious math scholar at Harvard and the decades-long manhunt that led to his apprehension.

Jacob Tremblay, known for his roles in "Room" and "Wonder," portrays Ted Kaczynski. The film will depict Kaczynski's early years at Harvard, where he entered at the young age of 16 in 1958 and graduated in 1962, as well as events leading up to his capture in 1996.

Russell Crowe stars as Henry Murray, a real-life psychology professor from Kaczynski's Harvard era. Murray was known for conducting human experiments on stress reactions, in which Kaczynski participated. While Kaczynski reportedly did not draw direct connections between these experiments and his later actions, the film's trailer suggests a potential link to his deteriorating mental health.

Annabelle Wallis appears as Christiana Morgan, a co-director of the Harvard Psychological Clinic during the 1960s, likely also featuring in the Harvard-set storyline.

In the later timeline, Shailene Woodley plays Joanne Miller, a fictional FBI agent tasked with tracking Kaczynski in 1994. This character is described as a composite stand-in for the numerous investigators involved in the real-life case, streamlining the narrative for the film.

The cast also includes Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg, and Marc Menchaca. Director Janus Metz Pedersen, who has a background in documentaries and previously helmed the espionage thriller "All the Old Knives" and episodes of "Andor," will bring his expertise to this fact-based story.

"Unabomber" will not receive a traditional theatrical release. Like many Netflix productions, it will debut exclusively on the streaming service on Friday, September 25th. It will be available at 12:01 AM PST and 3:01 AM EST.
