The complete "The Hunger Games" film franchise, including the original four films and the recent prequel, will be available on Netflix in July. The first five films in the series are set to begin streaming on July 14.
The original film, "The Hunger Games" (2012), is set in a dystopian future where teenagers are forced to compete in a televised fight to the death. It stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, and Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne.
Following Katniss's triumph, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" (2013) depicts her Victory Tour through the districts as a rebellion begins to form around her. The saga continues in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1" (2014), where Katniss becomes a symbol of resistance against the Capitol after being taken to District 13.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2" (2015) sees Katniss and her allies launch their final assault on the Capitol to liberate Panem. The collection also includes "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" (2023), which explores a young Coriolanus Snow's rise to power as he mentors a tribute in the 10th Hunger Games.
The ensemble casts throughout the franchise feature actors such as Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz, Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, and Viola Davis. All films in the collection are rated PG-13.
