Influencer Nara Smith has shared poignant images of her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, having her head shaved in preparation for chemotherapy treatment. The photos capture a difficult moment in the toddler's ongoing battle with an unspecified form of cancer, diagnosed late last year after the disease had spread.
Smith, married to model Lucky Blue Smith, posted the series of images on Instagram. One picture shows a pair of pink clippers beside a pile of Whimsy's curls, while another features the young girl proudly displaying her newly bald head. The family also adorned their shaved heads with colorful stick-on gems.
The update follows Smith's announcement earlier in the week that Whimsy had been diagnosed with cancer. She explained in an Instagram video that after noticing something suspicious, the family took Whimsy to the emergency room, then to their pediatrician, where they received the somber news. "I don't know if my gut was telling me something but the first thing I felt was that she had cancer," Smith stated.
Whimsy underwent a series of tests, X-rays, and a biopsy before her parents were informed that the cancer had spread and that chemotherapy was necessary immediately.
Smith, who is also mother to daughters Rumble, five, and Fawnie, nine months, and son Slim, four, acknowledged the difficulty of sharing such personal information. She noted the added challenge of navigating the situation while postpartum and managing the care of her other children. Smith expressed gratitude for the medical professionals supporting their family through this period.
The couple welcomed their fourth child, Fawnie Golden, in October of the previous year. Smith, who has millions of social media followers, is known for her lifestyle and cooking content. She has previously spoken about the negative impacts of online backlash during her pregnancies.
