Naga Munchetty, a familiar face on BBC One's Breakfast for 17 years, is transitioning to a new role as the presenter of Radio 5 Live's breakfast show. Munchetty, who has been a main host on the television program for the past 12 years, will now host the 5 Live Breakfast program five days a week starting in December.
Munchetty began her tenure at BBC Breakfast as a finance reporter before becoming one of its primary presenters. She currently juggles her responsibilities on the television show with presenting 5 Live's mid-morning program on certain weekdays.
"It has been a privilege to be part of the BBC Breakfast TV team for the past 17 years, working alongside an incredibly talented and hard-working group of journalists who are not only outstanding colleagues but also great friends," Munchetty stated. She added that presenting a flagship program on 5 Live presented an opportunity she "simply too good to pass up."
She expressed anticipation for the new challenge, stating, "It will take a huge amount of work and require 100% of my focus and energy, and I'm really looking forward to throwing myself into the role."
