Molly-Mae Hague has shared that her daughter, Bambi, has started prep school, a development that comes after discussions with her fiancé, Tommy Fury, regarding educational traditions.
Fury, who was raised within traditional Traveller culture, had previously expressed a desire for Bambi not to attend formal schooling. Hague, however, maintained that their daughter would receive a full education.
In a recent YouTube vlog, Hague, 27, stated that Bambi, who is three years old, has begun attending prep school as part of her nursery routine, in preparation for starting school next September. Hague noted that the move up to a new room is now referred to as prep school. She also mentioned that many of Bambi's friends wear a uniform, though it is optional.
Hague recounted a conversation where Fury questioned the uniforms, suggesting it felt too mature for their child. She responded by stating that Bambi is not a baby and that Fury tends to dote on their children.
The couple welcomed their son, Midas, in January. Earlier this year, Hague had expressed that they were undecided about sending Bambi to school, concerned she might 'lose herself' in the system. She considered homeschooling as an option but also indicated a preference for a Catholic school if it proved suitable, emphasizing her desire for Bambi not to 'lose her spark'. Hague described the prospect of handing her child over for five days a week as 'terrifying' due to their protective nature.
She mentioned visiting a school for Bambi, describing their decision-making process as being 'on the fence'. Hague noted her own background in the standard school system, having not attended private school, and that they were still deliberating.
Hague clarified that Fury's background influenced their decision-making, but denied that her views were related to him being 'half-Traveller'. However, Fury had previously suggested that Bambi might not attend school, a viewpoint linked to his Traveller heritage. Traditionally, some Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller children leave formal education after primary school to learn vocational skills, with boys learning trades like bricklaying and tree-cutting, and girls being taught homemaking by their mothers.
This had previously created a disagreement, with Hague insisting that her daughter would receive a comprehensive education. In an episode of 'At Home With The Furys,' Tommy Fury articulated his perspective, stating his intention to raise his child according to his upbringing, which he described as the 'old fashioned way' and the 'right way,' emphasizing the importance of family.
Hague responded on camera, acknowledging Fury's Traveller background and his conversations about their child potentially not attending school, which she deemed 'absolutely non optional.' She contrasted this with her own upbringing, where she stated it was never a question that their children would attend school, expressing hope that this would not cause significant conflict.
