Actress Minnie Driver disclosed that she was involved in a serious automobile collision on a rural road in France, an incident that has left her shaken but profoundly grateful to be alive.
In an Instagram video posted Thursday, Driver, 56, appeared wearing a neck brace and described the accident. She stated that the crash occurred when another vehicle failed to stop at an intersection, colliding with the car she was a passenger in. Driver, who was traveling with her friend Ben Homewood, attributed their survival to the safety features of the Kia EV2 they were in, specifically mentioning the 360-degree airbags.
"I'm so grateful to be alive," Driver said in the video, her voice filled with emotion. She reported sustaining a sprained neck and being in a state of shock, experiencing uncontrollable crying as part of her processing of the event.
Driver shared images of the car's wreckage, illustrating the severity of the impact. She also acknowledged the assistance of a van driver who stopped to help them before emergency services arrived. In contrast, she noted another car that slowed down to observe the scene but did not stop.
"My brain keeps replaying the crash which is very hard but seems to be a necessary part of processing," Driver wrote in the comments section of her post. "Weeping too, feels good and helpful. Thank you to my friends, my family, all the people at work and especially my friend Ben and his family. I love you."
Ben Homewood, known for his roles in "Missions," "Two Is a Family," and "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," was also in the vehicle with Driver during the accident.
