Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour, known for their roles as Eleven and Chief Hopper in Netflix's "Stranger Things," are set to star together in a new father-daughter spy series for the streaming service. The project marks a reunion for the actors who have addressed past rumors of on-set friction.
In the upcoming untitled series, Harbour will play Matt Wolfe, a disgraced ex-FBI agent and security expert. The plot thickens when his estranged daughter, Rebecca, portrayed by Brown and also an agent with the law enforcement agency, vanishes during a mission. The series is being developed by creator Jack Thorne, who previously worked with Brown on Netflix's "Enola Holmes" movies.
The news of their collaboration comes after reports surfaced in late 2025 alleging that Brown had filed a complaint against Harbour concerning his attitude before the filming of "Stranger Things"' fifth and final season. Sources cited "pages and pages of accusations" regarding the actor's behavior.
Harbour acknowledged a period of tension in a recent interview with Variety, describing it as a "simple rupture-and-repair thing." He explained that working together for a decade during Brown's formative teenage years, while playing surrogate father and daughter, could lead to disagreements. "It was just a simple rupture-and-repair thing that, once we cleared everybody out of the way and talked to each other, we’re fine," Harbour stated.
Brown echoed this sentiment in an email to the outlet, noting her significant personal growth throughout the "Stranger Things" series. "Over time, our relationship became much more collaborative creatively," she said. "When you work with someone for that many years, we could really push each other emotionally in scenes." She added that she values the experience of sharing those years with him.
Netflix expressed enthusiasm for the project. Jinny Howe, Netflix's head of scripted series in the US and Canada, commented, "Jack Thorne's ability to find the deeply human story inside a thriller is unmatched, and watching Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour reunite – this time as estranged father and daughter on opposite sides of a crisis – is something audiences are going to love."
Brown will also serve as an executive producer on the series, alongside Harbour and her husband, Jake Bongiovi. Brown is also slated to appear in "Enola Holmes 3," scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 1. No filming or release dates have been set for the new spy series.
