Mikey Madison has opened up about how her relationships have become more complex following her Oscar win. In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar UK, the 27-year-old actress reflected on the changes she has observed in those around her.
Madison, who won Best Actress in 2025 for her role in "Anora" and recently starred in Aaron Sorkin's "The Social Reckoning," stated she has developed a heightened awareness of others' intentions. "I do feel like there's always a voice in the back of my head, like, 'Does someone want something?'" she shared. "But then you want to believe that's not true, and that what someone wants is just connection or friendship. And sometimes I also can just smell it from a mile away."
She is set to receive the Film Actress prize at the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards on Thursday. Madison also expressed a desire to protect younger actresses navigating the entertainment industry. "When I see younger actresses, even people I don't know, I just have this urge to reach out and protect… [Fame can be such a] singular, strange experience," she said. "It's nice when you feel there is some kind of camaraderie, as it can feel quite isolating at times."
Mikeys Madison stars as Frances Haugen in "The Social Reckoning," a legal thriller that delves into the past of Facebook. The film, inspired by true events, follows a young Facebook engineer who works with a Wall Street Journal reporter to expose the social network's secrets. Aaron Sorkin wrote and directed the film, returning to the franchise after his work on "The Social Network."
Madison indicated her commitment to artistic growth, stating, "I want to continue to take risks as an actor, doing interesting things and stretching myself creatively. I want to entertain people and make things that are meaningful."
