The Michael Jackson biopic, "Michael," will be available on the Starz streaming service beginning August 10, 2026. The film, which stars Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson as the iconic singer, has already achieved a significant milestone, crossing $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for "Training Day," "Michael" covers the early portion of Jackson's life, concluding around the time of his 1987 "Bad" tour. Initially, the film was intended to include material from the 1990s and address child abuse allegations that surfaced in 1993. However, reported editorial changes, including a restriction on depicting one of the accusers, led to necessary cuts and reshoots.

"Michael" is making its subscription streaming debut as part of an output deal between Lionsgate, the studio that released the film, and Starz. The movie will be accessible via Starz.com and the STARZ app, available on platforms like iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon. For a limited time, Starz is offering promotional rates of $5.99 per month for the first three months or a discounted annual rate of $2.50 per month with a $29.99 prepayment for 12 months.

Starz can also be added to existing Hulu or Amazon Prime Video accounts for an additional monthly fee. Both platforms typically offer a seven-day free trial for the Starz add-on for eligible new subscribers. Additionally, Starz is available through Sling TV and Fubo, with Fubo offering its own free trial period.

The film's theatrical release saw it become one of five movies in 2026 to surpass $1 billion at the global box office, a number not reached by so many films since 2019. "Michael" was the first film of 2026 to reach this financial benchmark prior to its conclusion in U.S. theaters.
