A viral moment at a Miami Marlins 'Bark at the Park' event, where a dog appeared to watch another canine eat a hot dog with a forlorn expression, has resulted in the team offering a special treat to the dog and his owner. The incident occurred during a game on Monday, which allowed four-legged friends to attend the ballpark with their owners.
A video of the event, posted by MLB, quickly gained over 22 million views. In the footage, one dog was observed intently watching as its companion enjoyed a hot dog. The clip captured the dog's seemingly sad reaction to missing out on the snack.
The Miami Marlins organization noticed the viral video and issued a 'wanted' poster for the dog, stating: 'Wanted: A very good boy. Reward: a dream day at @loanDepotpark.'
David Silveira, identifying himself as the brother of the dog's owner, Peter Silveira, responded to the Marlins' post, claiming the dog in the video was an adopted pup named Jonah. Peter Silveira then commented directly on the Marlins' post, confirming the dog's identity and suggesting activities like "Catching fly balls, chasing squirrels, eating ice cream." He expressed a desire to return for a "dream day @loanDepotpark!"
According to Peter Silveira, Jonah was adopted five years ago in Massachusetts. He was originally a stray in Aruba and was saved by the New Life for Paws organization before joining the Silveira family. Peter and Jonah have since relocated to Florida.
Peter Silveira indicated to a commenter that Jonah's 'dream day' at the ballpark might take place on July 12. The Miami Marlins and the Silveira family have been contacted for further comment.
