Mel C, whose full name is Melanie Chisholm, secretly married her Australian partner Chris Dingwall in Sydney weeks before their larger wedding ceremony in England, according to Vogue. The singer and the model legally tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Dingwall's hometown before celebrating with friends and family at Country House Cumbria in England's Lake District.
The detail emerged as Vogue published a look inside the couple's wedding celebration, revealing the UK event was symbolic rather than their legal union. As a sentimental touch, Mel C had the words "Sydney" and "7.6.2026" embroidered in blue on the inside of her custom Victoria Beckham wedding gown. This served as her "something blue," commemorating the date and place of their official marriage.
Victoria Beckham, who designed the ivory gown with a dramatic open back, shared with Vogue that she only learned of the Australian wedding plans days before Mel C departed for the ceremony. Beckham was unable to attend the English celebration due to World Cup commitments in the United States with her husband, David Beckham.
Spice Girls bandmates Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, and Geri Halliwell-Horner were present at the English ceremony, while Victoria was the only member absent. Mel C's 17-year-old daughter, Scarlett, from a previous relationship, served as a bridesmaid.
The couple exchanged vows at the Country House Cumbria venue. The celebration was briefly interrupted when a herd of cows wandered from a neighboring paddock towards the ceremony, but it continued without incident.
Sources had previously indicated that the couple desired a smaller, understated wedding. Mel C, who had previously expressed reservations about marriage, reportedly did not want a large, public event but something "smaller and very classy."
This marriage is Mel C's first and makes her the last of the Spice Girls to marry. She and Dingwall met in 2023 after matching on the dating app Raya. Their relationship progressed quickly, with Dingwall inspiring several songs on her recent album, "Sweat." Earlier this year, Mel C hinted at a potential marriage, telling The Times that she was "so happy with Chris" and that marriage might be part of her future.
