Melanie Chisholm, known as Mel C, revealed that a dispute with Victoria Beckham at the 1996 BRIT Awards almost resulted in her dismissal from the Spice Girls. The incident, which occurred before the band had released any music, stemmed from a disagreement over Mel C's hairstyle.

In an interview on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Mel C explained that the group felt pressure to maintain a consistent image and avoid any member "going off the rails." She described the specific event at the BRIT Awards where, after a few drinks, she reacted aggressively to criticism from her bandmates about her hair, telling Beckham to "f**k off."

The following day, Mel C's bandmates, Geri Halliwell and Mel B, expressed their disgust with her behavior. She recalled feeling immense fear, believing she had jeopardized her dream of a successful music career and was on the verge of being removed from the group. "I went into terror because I thought I was going to lose everything," she stated.

At the time, the Spice Girls had signed with Virgin Records and were gaining industry attention, even sharing a table with Lenny Kravitz at the awards ceremony. However, Mel C admitted she had underestimated the impact of her actions, initially dismissing the incident as trivial.

She was subsequently warned by management that any similar behavior would lead to her departure from the band. This threat intensified her anxiety about losing everything she had worked for.

Mel C has previously expressed a desire for further Spice Girls reunions, including a potential headline performance at the Glastonbury Festival. While rumors of a holographic reunion have surfaced, with Victoria Beckham reportedly open to the idea, Mel C voiced a preference for live performances. "Personally, I want to see us on stage together," she said. "I think we need to do some more live stuff, while we still can."

Looking ahead, Mel C is embarking on her first world tour in over two decades following the release of her new album, expressing enthusiasm for performing internationally again. She recently reunited with Mel B on stage to perform their hit "Spice Up Your Life."
