Mel C and Bryan Adams reunited to perform their 1998 duet "When You're Gone," sharing a video of the pairing on Instagram 27 years after the song's release.

The clip, posted Tuesday, shows the two artists performing the track together; Mel C wore an animal-print jacket and matching shorts while Adams appeared in a short-sleeved shirt and black trousers. Mel C captioned the post, "We always have the best time, love you @bryanadams."

"When You're Gone" was included on Adams' eighth studio album, On a Day Like Today, and reached No. 3 on the U.K. singles chart after its 1998 release. Adams initially approached American singer Sheryl Crow for the duet but ultimately asked Melanie C — known as Mel C of the Spice Girls — after a chance encounter in an elevator in Los Angeles. The song has since become a staple at Adams' concerts, where he frequently invites an audience member to sing the second vocal part.

The Instagram reunion comes as the Spice Girls are also reuniting in a professional capacity. The group — Mel C, Geri Horner, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Mel B — announced a partnership with the England women's rugby team, the Red Roses, to launch a licensed product range built around the group's "Girl Power" slogan.

The licensed collection, set to be released through England Rugby partners and licensees Castore, Fanatics and Gilbert, will include a jersey, track jacket, bomber, T-shirts, hoodies, accessories and a limited-edition Red Roses and Spice Girls rugby ball. The initial products were announced for release this week.

In a joint statement, the Spice Girls said they were "excited to partner with the Red Roses in supporting women's sport," noting the significance of the first female president of the Rugby Football Union this year. Red Roses captain Zoe Aldcroft welcomed the collaboration, saying the team and the band share values around dedication, hard work and perseverance. Aldcroft said the partnership could help inspire more young people to take up rugby and bring new fans to the sport.

The Spice Girls have reunited intermittently in recent years, including an appearance together at Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday celebration in 2024. Their involvement with the Red Roses ties a prominent pop brand to a rising profile for women's rugby in England, following increased interest in recent international competitions.

The Adams–Mel C performance was shared to social media and has been picked up by outlets reporting on entertainment and pop-culture reunions. Neither Adams nor Mel C announced further joint dates or plans in the Instagram post. Representatives for both artists did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The renewed visibility of the duet underscores the longevity of late-1990s pop crossovers and the continuing cultural resonance of collaborations between rock and pop artists. It also aligns with a broader trend of heritage acts partnering with major sports organizations to reach new audiences and promote women's sport.
