Mel C and Bryan Adams reunited to perform their 1998 duet "When You're Gone," sharing a short video of the recreation on Instagram 27 years after the song's release.

In the clip posted on Tuesday, Mel C, wearing an animal-print jacket and matching shorts, and Adams, dressed casually in a short-sleeved shirt and black trousers, sang through the chorus and harmonies of the single. Mel C captioned the post: "We always have the best time, love you @bryanadams."

"When You're Gone" was included on Adams's eighth studio album, On a Day Like Today, and reached No. 3 on the U.K. singles chart after its 1998 release. Adams originally approached American singer Sheryl Crow to record the duet but invited Mel C after a chance encounter in a Los Angeles elevator, a pairing that helped make the song a staple of his live set. At his concerts, Adams has frequently invited an audience member to join him on stage to perform the female vocal.

The reunion clip comes as Mel C — a member of the Spice Girls — and her bandmates announced a commercial partnership with England Rugby's Red Roses ahead of the Rugby World Cup. The collaboration will feature a range of licensed products bearing the group's "Girl Power" slogan, including a jersey, track jacket, bomber, T-shirts, hoodies, accessories and a limited-edition Red Roses and Spice Girls rugby ball.

In a joint statement, the Spice Girls said they were "excited to partner with the Red Roses in supporting women's sport," adding that the tie-up was timely given the appointment of a female president of the Rugby Football Union this year. The group said they hoped the collaboration would encourage public support for the team as it competes in the World Cup.

Red Roses captain Zoe Aldcroft said the partnership aligned with the team's priorities, praising the Spice Girls' reach and the opportunity to use the campaign to inspire greater participation in rugby. "This is an important year for us as a team and it's fantastic to partner with a band which shares the same values as us," Aldcroft said, noting the sport's potential to foster "friendship, strength, confidence, power, self-expression and so much more." She added that the band's following would help the sport "reach new places, new fans of all ages and further boost the growth we've seen in recent years."

The licensed range will be released by England Rugby partners and licensees Castore, Fanatics and Gilbert over the coming weeks, the announcement said. The Spice Girls have reunited intermittently since their 1990s peak and marked a high-profile get-together at Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday party last year.

The Instagram duet follows a string of nostalgic pairings and anniversary performances from artists revisiting late-1990s material. Adams and Mel C's short performance underscores the enduring popularity of crossover pop-rock collaborations from that era and coincides with renewed mainstream attention on both the Spice Girls' brand and England's women's rugby side as the tournament approaches.
