Phoenix Chi Brown, daughter of Spice Girl Mel B, has secured her first acting role, appearing in a guest part on the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. The 27-year-old will feature in a plotline involving the kidnapping of the character Ste Hay.
Brown's character will have a brief interaction with Hay in a special episode filmed at Runcorn Shopping City, scheduled to air on Wednesday, September 2. Promotional images show Brown's character eating lunch at a table within the shopping complex while Ste Hay is nearby, shortly before his abduction.
Ste Hay goes missing after stopping at the shopping centre during a trip with Mercedes McQueen and Leela Lomax. Their journey is interrupted when they make a toilet break, unaware they are being watched by individuals intending to harm Mercedes.
This acting debut follows Phoenix Chi Brown's previous television appearances, which include shows like The Games, Born Famous, Loose Women, and Celebrity Gogglebox, often alongside her mother. She has also spoken about the challenges of being a 'nepo baby,' a term for individuals with famous parents who enter similar industries.
In a Channel 4 documentary titled 'Born in the Limelight - Nepo Babies: Untold,' which aired in late 2024 and early 2025, Brown discussed the intense scrutiny and criticism faced by children of celebrities. She noted that while her mother's fame may have opened doors, the public perception of nepotism in the entertainment industry has led to significant backlash.
Brown questioned societal acceptance of figures like Prince William as 'ultimate nepo babies' while celebrity children, such as Brooklyn Beckham, face public criticism. She stated that while nepotism is prevalent across various fields, its visibility in entertainment amplifies the debate. She emphasized the need to address broader societal issues rather than focusing solely on individuals benefiting from familial connections in the industry.
