Megyn Kelly has sharply criticized Nicole Kidman's recent photoshoot for Vogue Australia, questioning the actress's age-appropriate dressing and the authenticity of the images. In a segment on The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly stated that Kidman, who is nearly 60, should not be dressing like a teenager and suggested that the photos underwent significant retouching.
"The woman is 60 years old, OK? You don't have to dress like my 15-year-old daughter," Kelly said. "Why don't you try looking fabulous at 60? Instead of trying to look like a 14-year-old, it's inappropriate and it gives viewers the ick factor."
Kelly further speculated that Kidman may have had cosmetic work done, citing a "puffy" appearance and suggesting the use of fillers. She contrasted this with Kidman's look in the Vogue spread, where she posed in Chanel outfits, including a bikini and denim jeans.
Kelly's remarks have ignited discussion, with many online users defending Kidman. Comments included praise for Kidman's appearance and the sentiment that she should be allowed to dress as she pleases. Celebrities like Jodhi Meares and Janine Allis also voiced support for Kidman, calling her an "Australian icon" who looks "incredible."
However, some commenters agreed with Kelly, with one writing, "Go Megyn. Call it for what it is." Another user stated, "It is OK to be old."
This incident follows recent backlash against Kelly for her comments regarding Christina Applegate's multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Kelly had accused Applegate of creating a "cottage industry" out of her illness, remarks that were condemned by figures including Janice Dean, Melissa Gilbert, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sara Haines, who labeled Kelly a "mean girl."
